Students Shop Online, But So What?
While college students like to shop online, they aren’t necessarily using online or mobile tools to help with shopping. They’re also kind of ambivalent about the whole online shopping thing. In a survey of students last May, a whopping 96% of them had made at least one purchase online in the previous 30 days, with almost 9% clicking to buy online six or more times in that period.

They’ve Got It in the Bag

posted on
When college students head out the door to their first class of the day, there’s a lot of stuff that travels with them: phone, textbooks, notebooks, pens, water bottle, keys, personal items, maybe a laptop or tablet, and who knows what else. They need something to hold it all. OnCampus Research’s panelists say almost all of them, males and females alike, haul a bag to school in order to keep all their stuff together. Bags are No. 3 on the list of items students plan to buy this fall, right ...

Though Cordless, Phones Still Tethered to Students
It’s there when they hop into bed and still there when they arise the next morning. It’s in the car, at the dinner table, during the workout, in the classroom, and, yes, even in the bathroom. Cellphones command college students’ attention no matter where they are. A smattering of students don’t have a mobile phone—1.6% of OnCampus Research’s student panelists, to be exact. Their anxiety levels over money climbed as the recession deepened. Now, though, thin...

Guys Beat a Path to Shoe Stores, Too

posted on
Ever since the popular TV and movie series Sex and the City,it’s been an open secret that many women like shoes. Lots of shoes. And that goes for female college students, too. Some 47% of them anticipate buying at least one new pair—preferably more—sometime in the next three months, according to OnCampus Research’s Student Watch 2013 study. That number shouldn’t shock anybody. What might come as a surprise, though, is that male students enjoy shopping for shoes almost as much as the girls.

Students See a Very Merry Christmas This Year

Students See a Very Merry Christmas This Year
Santa's elves may have to toil overtime. College students who plan on bestowing Christmas gifts this year expect to be pretty generous to their family and friends - and to themselves. On average this season, students estimate they'll spend about $410 on holiday presents, including gift cards, according to OnCampus Research's Holiday Shopping Survey 2012. Most students claim they'll try to set a budget and even make an effort to stick to it by hitting in-store sales (71.2%) or trolling for bar...
